Every year on September 15, Costa Rica celebrates its independence with color, pride, and community spirit. At Journey School, students and families join in the national tradition with lantern parades (desfile de faroles), music, dance, and cultural presentations that honor the country’s heritage.
It’s a day filled with joy and unity — from children carrying handmade lanterns on the evening of the 14th, to the patriotic parades and performances on the 15th. Through these celebrations, our students connect deeply with Costa Rica’s history and culture, experiencing firsthand the values of freedom, community, and pride that continue to shape the nation.
