Middle school students on field trip in forest

Finding their voice.

Grades 6–8

Middle school students deepen their academic skills while developing independence, leadership, and a sense of purpose. Through passion projects, community service, and outdoor expeditions, they discover who they are and who they want to become.

Journey School at Tamarindo is an IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) candidate school.

Our approach

How middle school works at Journey

  • Students design their own questions, then go find answers. Personal projects, passion deep-dives, and structured research pull middle schoolers from receivers of knowledge into makers of it.

Middle School Experiences

Personal Projects

Student-driven inquiries that pursue individual passions and interests.

Community Service

Meaningful engagement with local communities and environmental causes.

Outdoor Expeditions

Hands-on adventures that build resilience and team bonds.
